AfIC is participating for the first time, together with the Municipality of Palaio Faliro from Greece, the Regional Authority of Lugo from Spain, the City of Mantova from Italy and the Regional Authority of Burgenland from Austria in the European Week of Cities and Regions that will take place in Brussels, during the week 12 – 14 October 2020. This week is regarded as the largest event taking place in Brussels related to European Regional Policy every year. Together with the other partners we will present to European Policy Makers, the Academia, Journalists, International Organizations and Professional Associations, our common experiences on the challenges of Health and Active Aging in the Post – COVID -19 era. We will discuss, how COVID – 19 has accelerated the health and social care service provision for senior citizens and the chronically ill in member states through innovative electronic services like telemedicine, what are the plans for healthy and active ageing in our cities and regions and how should should E/U. Member States, regions and local governments invest in innovative healthcare technologies in order to create “value” in societies and economies, achieving thus a major shift from the mindset that accepts investment in healthcare as a cost rather than a benefit in economic terms. You may watch live our workshop “The European challenge of active ageing post-COVID-19“in realtime mode, in english, after you register in the website of the European Committee of the Regions at https://europa.eu/regions-and-cities/programme/sessions/1598_en. The event takes place on October the 13th, 2020.
