AfIC has applied for a grant from the REALE Foundation (https://realefoundation.org/en/) to implement the project “The creative embodiment of a new mind” in the Municipality of Eastern Samos.
This is an intensive movement project for the elderly and, respectively, for adolescents with disabilities and caregivers. It focuses on movement improvisation as a starting point for self-development and self-care with expected outcomes such as decreasing fear of falls, improvement of motor function, satisfaction and mood. It
explores movement from an angle where the newly formed perception of the mind is creatively expressed through the body, within the framework of a process of continuous self-development, self-awareness and self-care for the elderly. The program concludes with a dialogue between the two beneficiary groups, through the creation of an audience-based, participatory contemporary dance performance with an ecological theme, entitled ‘Ceremony of Wishes’.
