It was a great experience for AfIC, NKUA and VIDAVO researchers and developers, to work together with 5 older people living with Diabetes and Sarcopenia, to co-design the MARISSA app. The app is offering sustainable care pathways and supports proactive behaviors for increasing muscle strength and the uptake of protein in the diet when there is a deficiency. A deficit in muscular strength and muscle mass as well as in protein uptake in the diet, contribute to frailty, falls, low quality of life and a decreased life span in elderly individuals living with diabetes and sarcopenia.
